Ask A Trans Man

Hi! My name is Simon and I'm a trans man. For the uninitiated, this means that I was born female and transitioned to male.

I didn't come out until I was 31 years old and before I came out, I had significant experiences with a trans individual, and still, there was a lot I didn't know. I hated looking for information on the internet because I got some weird shit showing up on my feed when I did that, so I largely sought out spaces with actual trans individuals to get information. The issue is many of them are not very accessible or worse, they are moderated very poorly. It took me quite some time to get a lot of things figured out.

A couple of years ago, I had the idea of a "Dear Abby" style column written by a trans individual to answer questions either from newly hatched eggs (you'll know when you know) or from people trying to understand their trans loved ones. I had a big vision that never took off because perfection is never achievable and I was so worried about doing it right that I just never did it.

Well, that changed this year. I decided that as part of my website, I will be doing my own mini advice column to help people figure things out. I'd rather have them asking me than AI and I've been out for long enough that I actually know a lot now. Even better, what I don't know, I can find out. I'm very good at finding resources and people who do know.
